July 23, 2020

MB and Randy Turn up the “Star Power” at Eastbay 7428 Shoot-Out!

Sports Stars Retweets make for Classic Finish

90045 - With three hours to go in an epic back and forth battle between a champion volleyball athlete and coach and a hall of fame sportscaster, the lead was razor thin.  The team of Mike Boehle (MB) and My Stuff Bags had retweets from NBA star Brent Barry and pro baseball coach Kelly Nicholson, while the team of Randy Rosenbloom and Make a Wish pulled in support from radio personality Paul Loeffler and Josh Cooper, the editor for The Athletic LA.  MB had a late surge to secure the win by a  final score of 56% to 44%.  The VBC champion and Loyola/MB Surf coach has advanced to the “Final Four” of the Eastbay 7428 Shoot-Out and set up a semifinal showdown with Los Angeles Lakers Studio Host and play by play announcer Chris “Geeter” McGee.

The Eastbay 7428 Shoot-Out matches up Sports Stories with Denny Lennon (SSDL) video podcast guests pre-interview basketball shots against one another in a 12-team single elimination tournament.  The championship team (guest and charity) of the event, which will conclude on August 7th, will receive a $1000 Eastbay gift card for the charity.

The MB win, monitored independently by the California Gaming Control Commission, was preceded by an accusatorial tirade sent out via video by Rosenbloom.  That video, as well as other exclusive content, is available for free at www.patreon.com/DennyLennon.  The Patreon link is also available at www.SportsStoriesPodcast.com.

No word yet as to Rosenbloom’s thoughts about the outcome of this contest.

The first two quarterfinals set voter participation records and have now set up a matchup that just may break twitter.  MB vs. Geeter:  My Stuff Bags vs. Stillpoint Family Resources, Loyola vs. Crespi, VBC champ vs. Six-Man champ, the list goes on…This semifinal matchup, which will begin on July 30th, promises to be a “Battle Royale”.

The next quarterfinal, which runs from 12pm (PT) July 24th to 12pm (PT) July 26th, matches the #2 seed Lynn Guerin vs. an upset winner in the opening round, #10 seed Wayne BoehleGuerin, who has teamed with Joni and Friends Disability Ministry, is the founder of the John R. Wooden CourseLynn was the only guest to take the shot from the right side of the court and he promptly knocked down a classic Coach Wooden banker.  Wayne, father to MB who shares the same charity in My Stuff Bags, was a standout athlete at Loyola University in the 60’s and the lead attorney for the school in the 90’s for the Hank Gathers Case.

All quarterfinal and subsequent matchups will continue to take place on twitter @SportsStoriesDL, one vote per matchup per supporter.  Links to the SSDL video podcast interviews of each of the quarterfinalists have been included below, which will further educate our twitter followers and Eastbay 7428 Shoot-Out legion of fans.

Winners of the quarterfinal matchups will appear July 24th and July 31st on the SSDL5 YouTube Live Friday “Happy Hour Show” to promote their team accomplishment of making the “Eastbay 7428 Shoot-Out Final Four”.
